Dr. William J. Ramsay is Jackson Hole’s only full-time Ophthalmologist, or eye M.D. He has been practicing in the Jackson Hole and Teton Valley area for over 30 years.
A native of Winnipeg, Canada, he did his undergraduate work at Princeton University and received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Manitoba. He did his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1977. He became certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1980.
Dr. Ramsay went into private practice in Thief River Falls, Minnesota in 1977 and continued there and in Bismark, North Dakota part-time until 1995. His family moved to Teton Village in 1981. He opened an office in 1983, becoming full-time in 1995.
He has been a member of St. John’s Medical Center’s staff since 1983 and is licensed in Wyoming, Idaho and Utah.
Dr. Ramsay and his wife Glenda have raised four children in Teton County. He is currently full-time in Jackson Hole and is active in many community activities such as the Lions Club and St. John’s Episcopal Church.
